I've got a chance to buy a M63 4" pinned barrel in excellent condition. My wife has a 6" S&W and I have a 4", both K frames.

Is this a gun I should acquire or do I just like the look of it?

Only you know the answer to that. Any photos?

Taught my kids on a 63. Very nice to teach kids with if you see that happening.

Personally i find J frames to have a less smooth trigger pull and a bit small in the hand.

Of course i own a few anyway.LOL

If the price is right why not. Find out what J frames are all about.

The 63 is a great firearm. If the price is good why not have it? I also have the 34-1. With my twin granddaughters learning to shoot these I see a day when these 2 22 LR's become theirs.

I have a M60 I rarely shoot as I'm into IDPA (you need a 6 shot revolver) and we don't have CCW laws here.
I do have a M66 with 2-1/2" barrel that I use in competition and a M19 2-1/2" arriving this week.

I realize the limitations of J frame revolvers, even with my small hands. However, the best three shot group I ever fired at 15 yds was a clover leaf well under the size of a dime with the M60.

If I COULD carry legally, I'd be packing the M66. The M63 would be a 'fun' gun and used to train newbies to revolvers.

I had a Model 63, pinned and recessed, back in the day. I stupidly sold it. Why? Because sometimes I do stupid things.

At least I still have my Ruger Single Six .22 revolver (stainless steel). Not the same thing, but...

I do not think I have shot my model 63 in the last decade (I own many .22 revolvers), but I am not willing to part with it. I would probably buy it

I shoot my 63 a lot, more than the Mod 34. It is also my training handgun for youth, and my granddaughters love it. It isn't heavy, it has no recoil, it is very accurate, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to shoot. If you happened to see the one on David Carrol's Gunbroker last night it went for $880, so quite a few others like them also.

I have one of the 1st ones that is non pinned. I put S&W target stocks on it and took it to the range along with my K22 Combat Masterpiece. It shot just as accurate as the K22 Combat revolver.
I used to carry it in a cross draw holster on my Hondo 4 wheeler, but I bought a M&P 22 semi-auto and had no further use for the M63. My M&P 22 is super accurate and is my go to gun when riding. Big Larry

My M63 was my second handgun I purchased it after my model 19...I put the J frame target stocks on it and it is a great little revolver. Very accurate and fun to shoot...

If the price is right, I would be all over it. They are very collectable and keep going up in value. You probably won't shoot it as well as your K-frames, but it'll be fun to try.

Buy if price is right. I have one (63 no dash-pinned barell.) Hard to find and neat revolvers. Mine always goes to the range with the larger caliber revolvers. Fun to shoot and a good revolver to teach newbies.

If the price is right; I'd buy it..... took me 4-5 years from "wanting one'' to "finding one" in a LGS.

Everyone here told me that it was a good price.......

Went and looked at my old thread....... most folks saying market (fall 2016) was more in the high $500 to 600-700 range.

The guy with the M63 is willing to trade me for my M60 - which I haven't shot in years.

Only other gun I've ever bought because it was "cute" is an ERMA .22 PPK knock-off whose six digit serial number begins with 005XXX.
I told the dealer that I wanted 007XXX and he said - "So did I, but someone beat us to it."
So my "licence to kill" pre-dates that of James Bond.

I would take that trade every time! My Model 63 is a real sweetheart and very hard to find down here. A model 60 is also hard to find around here but, not as hard as a Model 63.

If the price is not a major problem get it and never let it go. They are not making any more of them. I have a 34 2" and had a 34 4" I wish I still had. J frames are infectious, be careful.

I have a 2" model 34-1. Love it, won't never get rid of it. Swapping a m60 even for a m63 is a good trade.

I love my model 63 but I sure would hate to trade my model 60 for one. I would rather have them both if possible.

Yeah, me too, but like I said - I don't remember the last time I shot the M60 and it isn't eligible in IDPA. If we had CCW laws, I'd keep it. I can't justify having guns I don't shoot just for the sake of owning them.

There is a limited market for "prohibited" firearms (with barrels 4" or less) in Canada. Those of us who have them are "grandfathered" and can only buy and sell amongst our selves.
A lot of these guns go begging as a result. I've read that the current number of "grandfathered" owners is around 250,000, and we are a dying breed.

It took me a while to find a model 63. With my large hands I put these Badger grips on it. It shoots nice, but my favorite .22 revolver is still the model 18 with it's 4" barrel.
