I came across a PPC style revolver on a local board and just had to have it, why I am not sure.

It's in overall really nice condition with just a little bit of muzzle wear. The gun has a BO-MAR rib and a 4 inch barrel instead of the typical 6 inch barrel. It is also is chambered in .357 magnum instead of .38 spl. The action is smooth but not too light and very crisp. I added the Farrant stocks I had in the woodpile waiting for the right gun.

On the left side of the barrel it's labeled Davis Custom, which I am assuming is Bill Davis. The Right side of the barrel is engraved C. R. Johnson and is also electro penciled the same underneath the stocks along with a number (not a SSN). Does anyone know who Johnson is?

Nice gun, odd that it has a hammer spur (target hammer to boot) if it's a PPC built gun. Your right, most with the rib are 6 inchers. I shoot a 4" 686 in PPC stock service revolver matches using .38 wadcutters. I would imagine that the action is a smooth as silk?

The action is smooth but not as light as some PPC guns that I have felt. The short barrel and 357 mag chambering drew me to it.

That used to be called the BoMar "coverup" rib. Originally it went over the front sight on the stock barrel, to add target sights and some weight to the gun. I have one on a 64 a buddy of mine used in pin shoots. He said the 4 inch traversed better for him. Davis Custom was one of the premier PPC gunsmiths, and that looks like a custom barrel as well as the rib.

I would bet that Davis made the barrel and Johnson was the gunsmith that put the gun together.

Very well could be the case. "C.R. Johnson" as well as a bunch of numbers are electro penciled on either side of the grip frame under the grips...

I traded for a coverup rib and had it added to a used M10HB. They are fun
