My beater Highway Patrolman...
Several years ago I got this model Highway Patrolman in trade, and wasn't sure what to do with it. My original thought was to hopefully shoot it more than my model 27-8 (that didn't happen because the 27-8 is so nice to shoot). It didn't come with any stocks so I threw these on there just for the time being. The previous owner had polished the hammer and trigger, much to my dismay, a big "No-No" in my book.
It didnt take me long to find a like new color case hardened target hammer and trigger set. I installed an orange/red front sight insert, the white outline rear slider was already in there. I also threw some factory speedloader cutout target stocks on it. Since there wasn't any real value in the gun to begin with, I didn't mind making the changes that most likely devalued it even more. Anyway, this is how I would have ordered mine.

That is one fine looking "beater". Just toss under you truck seat and feel safe without a worry of messing that old thing up.

GunarSailors,
I need to know fairly quickly exactly what does Copenhagen do with the municipal trash that is collected?
Obviously when you put those speed loader cutouts on that "beater" you probably trashed those old, ugly N Frame footballs..........and I just happen to need a pair for my real, honest to goodness beater Model 25-2.
I'll hit the ATM this morning and see what flights are available..hope I get there before those footballs get burned to make electricity or whatever.
Good thing you don't live in South Jersey here in the States, or the Tuesday/Thursday morning "trash pickers" would have dumped the barrel on the sidewalk and snagged those beauties.
Seriously..........that is a sweet lookin HP, in both views, the way you got it, and after you corrected some things.
All the best

I am not sure. It is picked up in really small garbage trucks compared to the states. From there I am sure it gets sorted in some way shape or form. And from there I thought someone had said they burn it and heat the water that is pumped though out the city for heat. That may not be the case anymore.

Nice piece. Good general purpose item for when you can wear a sidearm openly, which I guess is seldom or never in Denmark?
Can you even hunt rabbits there with a handgun?
What if a terrorist like those who've made news there lately breaks into your home? Can you shoot in defense?
I can find Denmark on the globe, unlike many Americans, and I've enjoyed Tuborg and Carlsberg beer. I'm sure the place has something going for it...
What color is the statue of the Little Mermaid in the harbor? Is it one of those bronzes that developed a green patina? Got any recent pictures of it?
Is .357 Magnum ammo hard to find there? Can you own/shoot hollowpoint bullets?
And buy Hoppe's cleaning kits like that in the photos? What other brands of cleaning supplies do you see there?

No carrying, except in certain parts of the gun club, with the proper permits. And that really doesn't even count since having carried all of my adult life.
From the way I understand it, no hunting anything with handguns in Denmark, period.
If a home intruder or terrorist breaks into your home, you had better hope he planned on killing you and even then if you defend yourself with lethal force (even with just a baseball bat), you had better prepare yourself for a nice legal battle. Probably jail time too. But on the bright side, I think you d be out in like 5 to 7.
I can find .357 magnum no problem and I can buy lead ammunition. I think they sell hollow points, but I run FMJ through all of mine.

Wow, that's one of the NICEST 28s' I've seen in a long time. I'm not sure I would shoot it! Just kidding about the shooting, but it is really nice.

Very NICE! For a 28, that thing sure is shiny! I like it! I have a 1960, 6" no dash. It looks good, but shine is good in my book. Thanks for posting. Bob

I have a few 6" 28's i bought years ago for their diamond target grips. I now use one of them for my 357 load development. They are s-prefix guns with remarkable triggers. I personally prefer a smooth trigger. I like what you've done making the red ramp front sight and 3 T's. Looks good! That may be one of a kind in Denmark

Sorry I can't go into more details but I don't really like to criticize Denmark, as I am a guest. I don't want to cross the line of being political here either, but I am very out of place in Denmark (and I don't mind). I am a proud US Air Force Desert Storm veteran, and a patriotic American through and through. I have liked Denmark ever since I was here on a TDY back in the mid 90s, but I am really only in Denmark because it's where my wife is from and they allowed me to bring a suitcase full of guns. So I am about as different as they come here compared to most Danes and most of the immigrants I come in contact with.
There are things that are nice about living here, I am sure of that, especially if you are Danish. Since I am an immigrant, there are many benefits that we are not "entitled" to. Man, I hate that word. I am very fortunate because I found full time work extremely fast, at an international aviation company where English is the spoken language. It makes me much more valuable. If that hadn't have worked out finding a place to live might have been a little tricky. Especially with all the immigration requirements.

That's a refreshing attitude. I wish more people shared it, especially "guests" (invited or otherwise) in the USA.

You have one darned fine looking gun there. You can stack that one against anything but a brand new unfired one.
Take care of it and enjoy it.

If that is a beater then mine must look like it came out of Noah's Arc on crutches. Mine is really a beater but an honest beater. It was my duty weapon for a few years before I got my 686-1. Mine is a beater but shoots like a dream. I had it in a border patrol holster once and it fell out when chasing a suspect. The rear sight was bent and need to be replaced. I replaced it with a white outline rear sight.

I was watching some of those videos on YouTube that tell what people in various countries think of Americans.
I found one where Danes commented. The gist of it was that those interviewed think most Americans are overweight and eat too much fast food, and they tend to be overly enthusiastic when talking with new Danish acquaintances and tell them to come visit, but are surprised when one shows up. So, they don't think the invitations are sincere. And one guy thinks Americans are too gun obsessed.
BTW, I get real Danish Havarti cheese at a store here. It's one of my favorite cheeses, Muenster being about on par in my preferences. Both go well with either red or white wine.
I think I read years ago that Danish police and military used SIG- P-210 pistols. But I read somewhere that Danish police now often use the H-K USP Compact. If you ever learn what they carry, please post. Those I saw in news coverage of terrorist events had H-K MP-5 SMG's, but I couldn't see the pistols in the holsters, so have no idea what they carry. Coverage from France was more frequent and has better pics.
I've met just one Dane, a really hot blonde I saw in a grocery store. She was friendly and surprised that I knew anything at all about Denmark. That's usually the case with foreigners, regardless of where they're from.

last year i was in email communication with a guy in southern denmark, about an hour north of germany. I was hoping to get a unmodifyied stock for a danish krag. He owned a variety of long guns, including a k98 mauser left over on an island after the war eventually under danish jurisdiction. As I remember he does hunt but their are magazine restrictions to two or three rounds. Also the permits are for specific periods of time which you have to renew.

Here is a video I took when I first got it. Before I changed the hammer, trigger, stocks and before I installed the front sight insert. At first, I questioned if it was in fact the original finish or not, but I think the general consensus was that it is. I know I have never seen a 28-2 as shiny as this one.
