nice model 27 3.5 inch
a local pawn shop I spend to much money at has a probably 95% or better model 27 with 3.5" barrel & box (serial numbered to it) papers & tools. don"t know the year as I haven't checked the serial number yet. it is on consignment with an asking price of $1,500. I know it's collectible but have only spent that much money on a gun once before in my life. is this a good deal? I'm getting a good tax return and have always had a desire for a 3.5" 27. It does have target stocks on it. don't know if they are numbered to the gun. were target stocks standard issue on the 27 3.5 inch? Thanks

My local honey hole has a 27-2 3 1/2" Factory fired only numbered presentation box everything there asking $2000. I nearly dropped the cash but walked away. Can't stop thinking about it.

If you look at pricing on Gunbroker for a 3 1/2" 27-2 or older in the condition you describe, that isn't a steal but rather a fair price. 3 1/2" 27s aren't being made any more and one in good shape like you describe are in demand.

In the current market, it is a very fair price for a 98% gun with the original box and contents, but only fair at 95%. If it is a model 27 or -1, definitely worth more than a -2 (not that the latter are cheap).
This model in a blue two-piece cardboard box almost certainly came with Magna or service stocks. Good luck in your decision.
