Default What is the approximate age

I inherited a S&W 38 special from my late uncle. It is a mod. 15-1 S/N K 459518 six shot with swing out cylinder. I'm gonna go out on a limb her and say it was made between 1961 and 1980 but that's why I'm here so I can know for sure. Attachment 270032

1961 is correct for your serial number and for the -1 variant.

Someone has swapped the stocks, however. The non-diamond Magna stocks on your gun are the post-1967 variety.

Still a very nice gun to own. The dash 1 is not all that common. It was made only for a few months, being replaced in 1961 with the -2.
