14-3 vs 19-5 new to the family
So today I pulled the trigger on a 14-3 6" that has been in my dealers case for a while, serial 1K3xxxx with numbered magna grips, nice condition, about 90% plus except for the grips which are...well, abused. Don't know date of birth...chime in if you know. Well, as soon as I brought it home I had to see how it shoots, no cleaning, just a quick check, out the door to the field I went. Set a can of tomato paste out at 25 yards, loaded 3 HBWC 148 g loaded with 3.5 g of HP 38.....my go to load for target. WOW....this thing is amazing, walked that can down the field, every shot, no sight adjustment, cold turkey. This has the best trigger of all my Smiths, I always thought my 19-5 was king, no more. I am a very happy shooter. Pic of 19-5 on top 14-3 lower.

Yup, the M14 will do cans all day long. It makes you wonder why other guns won't. If you want to see a great contrast, try a Colt Commander at 25 yards. . .it won't even do hay bales.

Nice 14-3. Model 14's are my favorite. Careful, they're contagious. I'm up to 3 of them. I don't have my book handy, but I know my 14-3 with a 1K4xxxx serial was born in 1971.

I love my 14-3 with the long barrel. Beautiful craftsmanship and a joy to shoot.

A 14, is a thing of beauty in my book! Oh, they shoot quite well also. Mine is a 14-3, that was certainly a bargain. Bob
