still lookin at model 27 3 1/2 inch
the model 27 3 1/2 inch I asked about a couple of weeks ago is still for sale. it is a 27-2 with serial #215xxx. can someone give me an approx. date of manufacture & did it ship in a blue box w target grips? it is probably around 95% or maybe better with box, papers & tools. guy wants $1,500 & I offered $1,400. we'll see but I'll probably do the $1,500 if he won't budge

The SN puts it sometime in 1974, I think. It would have been in the blue cardboard box but more likely with Magna or service stocks.
To me it would not be a $1500 gun at 95%, but it 'might' be at 98% (like new with a cylinder turn line). A careful examination is key here. Good luck in your decision.

I hear ya, those are hard to come by, I found one local from a fellow member about 3-4 years ago, I paid a little less, but he had taken it to the Belleville gunshow, and how he managed to bring it home, I'll never know.
But like yours, wearing target grips, factory box and papers, no tools, but I fixed that. MY FAVORITE Revolver, maybe my favorite gun period. S serial from about 67, just gorgeous....
our pragmatic bros state you didn't pay too much, you just bought it too soon! good perspective

$1500 is a lot, but that is what a lot of these 3.5" model 27s go for now. Back in the day, no one wanted those 3.5" 27s, now everyone wants them. I like the 4" and 5" guns better as shooters, but the 3.5" guns just have a panache to them that no other N Frame has.
If you really want it, go get it for $1500. It is a lot, but like I wrote above, it's what they go for.

Go ahead and pay the extra $100 even if it means not taking your better half out to dinner this weekend. She will get over being angry and you will have the gun. Larry

Pay what he is asking if you want the gun. The extra
$100 will seem insignificant once you have it in your hands or when you have grown to regret not buying it. Where I live you would likely see that gun in that condition once in a lifetime. The ability to inspect it first hand is worth the extra bank vs buying on line and praying when it arrives.
