19-1 4" Nickel
Good morning. I wanted to share this beautiful 19-1 Nickel revolver. This one has eluded me for awhile in my collection. I am know proud to present it. I wanted to thank the forum member who passed it on to me. If anyone else has one in their collection please feel free to share it here. Thanks again for letting me share. I feel fortunate to have it as I started looking in may of last year so it took about 9 months to find. I know some have looked for longer for their grail guns so I do feel lucky. Thanks again.

My old eyes can't quite make out the serial number but I'm gonna' guess 1960 or '61.
I really like the 4 screw revolvers and from pre model marked guns up through the dash 1's (and -2's really) are the ones I still look for.
Nickel is tough to find in high condition and especially so in 50+ year old revolvers.
"Good Property" as my ol' table pard would say of your gun!

Very nice! There is something classy about a nickel plated Model 19.
I don't have a -1, but here is my nickel finish 19-3. I've had it for a few years. When the picture was taken, it was temporarily wearing Magna stocks. As it sits in the safe now, it once again has target stocks on it, which is the way it left the factory.
Here it is with its little brother.

A big congratulations to you sir. Finding that special gun you've been looking for is very gratifying. And yours looks wonderful. And thanks for offering an opportunity to show you mine.
Unlike you, I wasn't looking for one. I walked into a pawn shop and there it was! Needless to say I didn't walk out without it. Mine is a 6 inch barrel, Md 19-4 made ca. 1980.

I've wondered where that old gal wound up. Sounds like she has found a great new home. The tell if it's the real deal is confirmed by the N on the frame and under the cylinder star along with the L (left hand thread ejector rod) stamped on the cylinder face. You've now got a grail gun for some collectors. Congrats!

Chuck thank you for pointing out that this is the same one. I had not noticed it until now. I was lucky to find a local collector that had purchased it from woodlawn boys. I am proud of it and hope to hold on to it for life! I need to get it lettered. I beleive this revolver has been owned by some very impressive collectors if my memory serves me correctly. I was actually thinking the one you had pictured was aanotherone. I have had to clean the drool off of my screen several times from looking at it. I plan on posting a group photo of the Pre 19 through the 19-3 Nickel tommorow. I also have a set of rosewood grips that JayCee NC held on to for me for over a six months until we could meet up at the Greensboro gun show and I was able to pick them up. I have been lucky to make some very good friends on the forum and luckier still to live close to several. Thanks guys for all the kind words and help along the way!

Hey sbowenjr
I read your post and could hear the joy in your post .. you sound like one happy SW collector right now ... That's awsome.
Nice when you find that gun you are searching for. And she looks like a BEAUTY !! Them grips ain't too bad either. Very nice addition to the collection.

She's a real beauty and would be hard to upgrade. I would think the -1 variation is every bit as difficult to locate as is a nickel pre-19. In my years of S&W searching I've only seen one of each. Enjoy that special revolver!

Glad you finally got one.
Pair it with your blued one for showing both finishes.
I would think a custom two gun box would be a idea worth considering.

Thank you. I consider myself lucky. I have searched through old posts. I might be overlooking some but I have only found two that were mentioned and just realized when I acquired this one that they were the same revolver!
I do have a 4" 19-1 blue model but someone jewelled the hammer and trigger. I would like to find boxes for them.

I saw this auction yesterday morning on GB.
I contacted the seller and requested better pictures. If advertised correctly this is the second one I have seen. Congratulations to the buyer. I look forward to seeing it posted and hope he is a member. If all checks out he did very well.

...not a 100% nickel, but the barrel and cylinder are nickle and it is a 19-1... does this count?
