I won an auction for a Model 37 Airweight
Several years ago, I bought a used Model 37 for $119 in a gun shop when that was a great price even over a decade ago. I couldn't find a readily available non +P carry round for it . So, she & I parted company. Now that there are several rounds on the market that fill the bill, I picked up another one. This one was $257 plus the add ons :
I think that it might have been carried by a right hander!
More bloodstains on the barrel? I seem to be building a collection of those of late.
Best,
Charles

That's what you call an honest gun! Love it. Perfect for carry, and the price can't be beat. If those old ones could only talk, eh?

That is a "salty" looking Model 37 you found! They make a great pocket/carry piece and will be virtually trouble-free if you use standard velocity ammo in it.
Congrats !

All you need now is to remove the grips and wrap some friction tape around the grip frame!!!

Be nice; that old girl came by those battle scars honestly. Seriously, every plainclothes officer from the Forties on to Y2K had one of these stashed on his person somewhere, even the ones who claimed to trust their autoloader with their daughter's virtue, and a goodly number of uniformed officers had one tucked somewhere as a backup. They were working guns, not safe queens, and most of the many survivors look it, just as this one does.

My back up is a 2" square butt Model 36 that makes my new acquisition look pretty. They may share that duty now.
Best,
Charles

I have to admit that I rarely bothered with a backup, but that was partly because I was carrying a 2-1/2" round-butt Model 19 as a primary weapon, so reliability wasn't exactly an issue. Now that I've moved onto a line of work that lets me hang out with a better class of criminal, my usual companion is a Model 60 dash nothing I've had for 40 years. The eyes aren't as good at picking up those skinny sights these days, so I'm thinking of dressing it up with a set of CT grips, but the revolver itself will probably outlast my grandkids, when and if.

^^^^What he said. Great post! There are still many of us who squirrel away a J-frame and allow nobody to know about it. We don't flash it at the range or LGS and never mention carrying it. One of my 637s, while in great shape, is honorably retired as it carried me through a very hinky period of my career. Got to bring it out to the range for old times' sake. Stay safe, partner.
