Very Nice piece of S&W History. Just happens to be one of the iconic pieces of firearms americana. It is one of the best shooting firearms I have ever fired. It and the Model 10 are the work horses of the S&W line. Shoot it and enjoy!

Regards

You did well at that price. You do see some cheaper though, but not too often. I have a -3 heavy barrel, 4". They shoot quite well. Enjoy it! Bob

I plan on enjoying it asap. Then getting some 38 dies and a few lead molds and really enjoying it.

Until then...

My 2015 edition blue book puts it somewhere between 350 and 450 with the pencil barrel depending on condition. I figure no tax and the quality vintage holster, plus the low roundcount (possibly less than a box of ammo Im told) puts me in the black. The previous owner was an elderly man who bought it new to carry briefly as a security guard in the 70s. Not sure they had any "qualification" regimen back then. My friend was merely flipping it for his estate and never shot it

Careful there. M64's can become an addiction. I'm up to five. I've got a 4" no dash like yours, a 2" -2, a 3" round butt -3, a 4" -3, and a 4" -5 NY-1.
I can't stop.

I bought some name brand 158 gr. lead bullets for cheap at a flea market. I loaded .38 specials with them for $3.48 a box all components included. Can't shoot a .22 for that! Bob

Nothing wrong with a 2", 10, or 64 either. I bought a 10-5, 2" R.B. a year ago. It is a fun gun to shoot! Bob

I've got one I bought several years ago for $300.00. I was mowing a trail on the back 40 and Jr. was skinning rabbits at the cleaning bench behind the house. I came around a curve on the mower when a canecutter stood up to see what the noise was about. I had the 64-0 in a cross draw holster that I use when riding the mower and the tractor and popped the rab in the head at about 40 yards. I leaned down and picked him up and put him on the hood of the mower. A few minutes later as Jr. was cleaning the bench I plopped the rab on the bench as I drove by, giving him another one to clean. I ain't getting rid of mine. One of my favorites.

Start shopping online, or at least look around more. That's expensive

Actually looked on wikiarms and slickguns. With shipping its around the same price, and its the same price as Cabelas. USA-made 38spl isnt cheap like it used to be. Downright expensive compared to 9mm. I like Federal brass which is the man reason I grabbed 100rds of this. My buddy got about 400rds of AE 130gr FMJ for $12 a box on clearance, I wish i had stocked up some then.

But yeah, reloading and casting my own pill will being the cost per round down quite a bit

Just FYI vista outdoors which is Fed ammo, RCBS, Savage, etc has a $10 rebate for every $50 u spend on their products, plus free shirt for over $100.

Great score!

I swapped a Mossberg 835 shotgun for this one about a year ago:

Blacked out the rear notch with a sharpie and hit the front ramp with some day glo orange nail polish. Should help cut down glare
