Default Model 19 Beauty...

I'm a huge fan of the big N frame S&W revolvers (who isn't!), but it is also hard to argue with the beauty and elegance of the K frames as well. Here's one of my favorites - the weight and size feel "just right" to me. This 19-4 was shipped around 1978, I think, and dressed up with some round butt Executioner grips and a Tyler T grip, I don't think it has ever looked better.

Like you, I too enjoy the N frames, but you just can't debate the lines of a 2.5 inch model 19. Nice catch.

Maybe we should leave the two of them alone together in the drawer somewhere and see what happens!

As I have said before, a model 19 snub is the sexiest looking gun ever made!

I'd like to see that with a brass T-grip on it.

Perhaps we could arrange a threesome

The thing I really like about this guy. It's not so nice I worry about carrying it, but it is nice enough I can show it off to friends.

This is my 19-4, my EDC for ...oh, about 10 years now. She has been with me everywhere in all weather. She is not as purty as y'alls. I am thinking of a rebuild and refinish to get her through another 10...IMG_0127 (2).jpg

I refurbished the stocks last year.... I think it is time to refurb the ole girl herself.

Nice pistols! I am not a big Smith & Wesson collector, but I do collect military weapons including pistols. My favorite handgun is my Smith & Wesson Model of 1917 which I understand was adapted from an N-frame revolver. So I also get the picture on these big framed revolvers. I may have to go look for a commercial version now.

A very little touch-up maybe, but be careful not to remove the character from that beautiful working gun.

And I have to say - a really nice job you did on those stocks...a nice natural look without an artificial shine. They sure look nice for 10+ years "on duty".

Oh sure! You've been laying low, like you don't have any "nice" guns..." You guys have all the good looking guns." Then you pop up with something like this! We're on to you now... WOW, and I was so close to offering up an incredible "sympathy" deal for you - boy, would I have felt stupid!

Very nice short M19's and a 66. Really a 2 1/2" M19, who doesn't like those? My 19-5 with Altamont rosewood boot grips

I have a pretty nice nickel 19-4 snubbie from 1979. A St Louis cop detective carried it for several years and shot it at some bad guys (hit one). When I got it I had to put some work into it to get it back in time and freshen up the springs, so now it's a great shooting gun (and super accurate!). But it is not as pretty as the guns pictured in this thread. Wow!

Sir, if you really want one don't wait to long, as Smith and Wesson stopped producing them years ago. They also appear to be increasing in value by $100 - $150.00 a year. It's gotten to the point that I would have to thing long and hard about buying the ones I've got.

As my M.T.I., advised me me more than once. "do it now, quickly quickly."

I know! My priorities change like the weather. My current goal is a .44 revolver. Do have revolvers in 45ACP, & 45 Colt. Bob

And there lies the problem - there's always one next in line, and with prices rising like they are, it takes longer to "reload" after a purchase (even with a good deal) and be ready to buy another.

Default Mod. 19-3

Here is my only Mod.19, a 1970 Mod. 19-3. It was made, and bought back when they were the carry weapon of choice of the CIA. They couldn't be found for sale for love nor money. Combat grips were not available yet at the time, and I had to cut down a set of target grips to fit it. One had to have something rare, or hard to find, and in great demand, to swap to get a S&W 19 2 1/2" at the time, I did, and got one at a gun show. Since it is the only 19, that I have, I have to cheat, and dress it in different sets of grips. Here it is in a few different sets of grips.

I made a few holsters that would have (I think) worked for a barbecue or party for it, but didn't hold on to one for myself. Need to remedy that one of these days.

That's an angle I had never heard before (the CIA part) - very interesting! That 19 looks very nice in ALL those different grips...thanks for sharing those pictures.

Kinda figured I'd been snookered a bit when that shiny 66 suddenly turned up in that picture! You been doing a little extra polishing on that one?

I'll have to remember to hold something back so I got something to play when you Texans finally show your hand!

Very sharp guns. N's and K's are my 2 favorites; not sure I can choose between the 2.

you might say a little polish'n... some. Not so much every Jo Blow might notice. That said... the ole 19 is still my constant companion and maybe the last one I would sell off. I do have a old 640 getting more carry time, but, this is a thread of 19's.
