Default Need longer barrel for a 19-3

Hello everyone...

A retired police officer friend of mine has recently acquired a minty 19-3 with a four inch barrel. He loves the gun and wants to eventually be able to pass it on to his son.
However, we live in Canada with bizarre gun laws. A four inch revolver produced after 1946 is considered prohibited here and can not be passed on to an heir who does not currently have a licence allowing him to acquire such a gun. Those special licences are no longer available. However, if it is re-barrelled to greater than 4.2 inches it can be reclassified as restricted and can be passed on. Stupid I know...but that's the way it is.
Anyway, does anyone know a source for a five or six inch barrel for the gun? We have tried the usual commercial gun part sources without luck.
Thank you,
Easy

Depending on import/export laws, you could post a Wanted to Buy ad here and someone will likely have an appropriate 6" barrel available. Good luck in your search.

Also keep you eyes on Ebay. I see all kinds of barrels show up there. I don't know how common model 19 6" barrels are, but most prefer the shorter ones and you might workout a trade too. If you really had too a model 14 barrel would work it would just be miss marked 38 special and need the barrel shank shortened and the forcing cone redone as the model 19 cylinder is about .10 longer. Good luck.
