Default Another model 53 question

What I have is a 6 inch model 53 kit gun. It has both cylinders, the inserts, a half box of Peters 22 ammo, and a cleaning rod with the screw driver. The box is in great shape, I also have all the paper work that came with the gun, red tag and all. The pistol shows some wear, and there is what I would call checking in the finish on the barrel. I've been told condition is 85% or better. The only flaw I can see is someone cut the grips down to fit there hand. Gun was bought in 1964. I've looked on gunbroker but have not seen anything that looks like what I have. I'm looking to sell this pistol and I'm trying to come up with a fair price. I see what people are asking for theirs, but I'm not sure. Can you all help out. Sorry I cannot post picks, but hoping to around April 5 when I see my brother. He knows how but lives in Montana.

It is not a kit gun but rather a K-frame revolver. You have a good package but condition will be the critical factor in price.

Even in the condition you describe, it should bring $1000. Having both cylinders is a big plus. The extra cylinder was optional and not too many shipped with that option (or got the factory fitted extra cylinder added later by sending the whole gun back to S&W). 22 Jet was another great idea that didn't work out.

I did not think it was a kit gun.The reason I said kit gun was someone had a label inside the box that said kit gun.

Condition is everything, what does the forcing cone look like? The Jet is a hot round and often you will find a crater at the forcing cone. The extra 22LR is worth at least $500 by itself. The grips being cut down will reduce the price by at least $100. I paid $1500 for an 8 3/8" at 95%+ with box and extra cylinder and two sets of inserts a month ago.

The forcing cone looks fine. I thought about replacing the grips but what people want is way more then what I want to pay at this time.
