28-2 should I get another one.
I already have a nice clean 28-2 6 inch along with 28-2 4 inch and a 28 no dash 6 inch. I love these guns. My question is: I have a chance to get a 28-2 6 inch in great condition for 550.00 out the door. As a investment to trade or sell down the road should I buy it. Do you find this model increasing in price every year. Very hard to pass up a great deal but realize I can't own all of them.

You can't own them all, but there's no reason you can't try!

Depending on an entire list of criteria, why not? If it is in nice shape and original, sounds fair. Go up in value? Yea to some extent. I dont think the market will dive, it may flatten out a bit, but who knows. Best

The 28s were somewhat unloved a few years ago when other N frames were increasing in price quickly. I passed on several decent ones over the last few years as I had decided to never pay more than $500 for a 28. Haven't seen one for less than $500 for awhile now. Saw a six inch 28-3, showing some wear (no box), priced at $650 this week. Traded for a 28-2 98% with box/papers last fall which was priced at $750. Prices for S&Ws seem to be softening a bit; at least there are more of them available for sale recently. If we are looking at a period of softening prices, and it seems reasonable that we might be given the change in national political leadership, I think those models which were "playing catch up" over the past couple years may take the biggest hit in that softening. Seems to me that the 28s have run up pretty fast the last couple years. I, for one anyway, will not be buying 28s at premium prices expecting rapid price appreciation. Just one opinion, worth what you paid for it. Good luck.

Thanks everybody. One thing I keep reminding myself. I never regret any guns I buy, BUT for sure some of the ones that got away still haunt me.

If you have the money and want it, why would you not buy it? And don't listen to all the people who'll come around and say it's not as good as a 4-inch, or it isn't worth as much as a 4-inch. These are the same people who'll say they bought one x-years ago for $400 OTD.

That's pretty much been agreed upon by everyone who keeps up with this sort of thing. In short...yes.

It is simple. There is no such thing as owning too many Highway Patrolman revolvers. Period. End of discussion.

As someone smarter than me on this website stated.."They ain't making anymore of them." Have a six inch 28-2 and a 28-3 and paid $1100 for the pair, and they aren't going anywhere. The 28-3 was hard to come by, and even without pinned barrel and recessed cylinder, they are great guns, better made than the new stuff, in My Humble Opinion.

Leave it for someone else, or buy it and then move it along for a bit of a profit.......you can never have too many and if it needs to go later, let it go. What else are you going to find for $550 bucks of that quality.

If the price and condition is right grab it. You can never have enough N Frame s&w revolvers. For that cost your still here?

It sounds like a pretty reasonable price to me.

You could always buy it as an upgrade. That is, look over all the ones you own and let the lowest quality one go. At least that's the theory. Speaking for myself, they usually all stay.
