Default Model 36 is a pleasant surprise

Have a pretty newfound interest in nickel revolvers. Got in a bit of a bidding "war" on this 36 a bit ago and went to a little over my self-imposed limit for this model. Paid $630 plus shipping. Knew it had a couple very minor flaws and wanted it for a shooter.

Well, I picked it up today, brought it home and gave it the obligatory cleaning and waxing. I'm stunned by the beauty of this 44 year old revolver. I've got some incredibly fun plans for this guy!

And ...... it came with the correct box in 80-90% condition.

A 3" round butt nickel with original box? I'd say you did just fine!

Congrats!

That's a really, really nice shooter.

I am a huge fan of the J frames with 3" barrel, and yours is a primo example.

Very nice. A 36 no dash with the 3” tapered barrel.

That is a real nice 36. The thing looks close to unused, grips are perfect and their fit is spot on. Are they numbered to the gun? I think you did well. Enjoy it, I know I would.

Thank you and yes, they are numbered to the gun. And it is close to perfect - just a really slight nick on the left side of the trigger guard and that's it. The other "blemish" I thought I saw in the original pics wiped away with a rag. As I cleaned it up I kept going, oh my gosh, oh my gosh ......

Great find. You now have a conundrum. Do you shoot it alot as it should be, or do you save it and not damage it and keep its great looks.

I bought it to shoot. The trigger is amazing, smooth as butter.

Shooting it and keeping it well maintained without abuse won't hurt a thing, IMO. You have a VERY nice example there, and they ain't makin' any more like it. I would say you didn't steal it, but I would also say you didn't and won't likely ever regret a single one of the nickels you paid for it. Congratulations!!

Default Mine isn't nickel...

...it's plain blue and scratched a little. But I realized why these guns are so well thought of when I bought one.
