Default Mystery box 19-3, pics added

I picked up a round butt, 2.5" bbl Model 19-3, 14K5xxx i n the box with the paperwork, no tools or cleaning rod. It has a blue sticker on the box "Property State of Nevada" with an embossed serial number on the box and the gun s/n is magic markered over the label for easier inventory control.

The gun is 95% or better, it has not spent a lot of time in a holster and it has not been fired much at all. No engraving or marks on the gun.

It looks like 1977 build date according to paperwork, any idea what part of the state of Nevada had this gun in their inventory?

Thanks

You know, they say around here, "no pics, it didn't happen".
But, if it did happen, it's probably from around Sep/Oct 1977.

The SN is from 1977. If you can post photos of the box and label someone here might recognize them and who might have issued the gun.

Very pretty. I just picked up a used Model 66 snubby, but the blued 19-3 is dead sexy!

Well, no help yet .

You may want to spring for an SWHF history letter to see if it was shipped to an NV LE or state agency:

Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation - Letter Process - Insuring that the rich history of Smith & Wesson will continue for generations to come
