I've a modest collection that includes a K22, Mod 14-4, and a 29-2. There are more but they're from the next time block. It's the Magna grip versus Target grip that I wanted to inquire about. Contrary to how I may have felt decades ago, I just can't hold my Magna equipped K-frames as steady as I can the 29's Target grips. I don't have real big hands but they're not small either.
All my Smith's are in excellent original condition so I'm a bit hesitant to change their grips. I realize that's kind of silly but that's just me. Now looking back in time I "get" why folks had put those grip inserts on their revolvers. So my question is, what are my options for getting a more stable grip for my occasional shooting? For instance, are S&W target grips available? I'm assuming anything resembling NOS are extremely pricey. Alternatively, are there grip inserts that a purist would consider? I don't know what the insert options are or how they attach. I'd do NOTHING that would put a scratch or wear spot on my frames or wood.
Not the end of the world obviously. If only all my problems were this trivial. But, it involves a pretty big passion so I ask.
Thanks!
Eric
