Thanks for the many kind words about the BK grip adapters. They can be ordered on the web site, BK Grips | 2-Clip Grip Adapters for Revolvers.

I've been doing tax returns for a CPA firm for the past couple of months and inventory has gotten a bit low, but I should be granted my freedom before next Tuesday and will be able to get back into production. If an item does go out of stock it disappears from the web site, so anything you do see should be available to go in the mail the next business day after you order it. BK adapters are shipped by Priority Mail, so normal delivery is 2-3 days pretty much anywhere in the US.

All i can add is that i ordered a K frame round (matte) and a J frame to try on a Charter Arms Bulldog (brushed) on March 8 (2017), they showed up on the 31st i think. The J frame adapter fits "ok" on the Bulldog. My experience was per previous ones.

Well, I just ordered a BK Grip for my Model 15..another plus for me; BK is a Missouri based business...buy at home when you can.

I have just never cottoned to the big target grips and big rubber grips like Hogue....

Default BK Grips for Baby Chief

Can anyone comment on how well the J-frame sized BK Grips fit older "pre-J frame" guns such as the Baby Chief? Photos would be especially appreciated if anyone has one.

Default Question

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but Kip over at BK Grip thought someone here may have the answer to my question. I would like to put an adapter on an old pre-34 that I believe has an improved I frame. My question is whether a J frame adapter would work, or could be made to work with a little modification.

Thanks for any help.

I find it refreshing that Tyler hasn’t automated their operations.

Truth be told, grip adapters aren’t the sort of product that anyone needs immediately. They aren’t life saving medication after all.

Chill out folks.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Agreed!

I dropped a money order in the mail with an order for 3 about a week ago.

I have ordered several and never had a bad experience. Sometimes just a little slow, like me.

So which adapter would you use for an improved I-frame - such as a pre-34?

Check with "BK" for the proper size.

Thanks for that vote of confidence, but I'm afraid I'm the one who sent the inquiry here. I don't have any feedback (that I can find) on pre-J fitting, although I have to believe that somebody has bought one of my J adapters in the last 5 years and put it on an older model.

I have a recollection of somebody posting a photo, early on in my production of these things, that showed one of the J adapters on a really old model - I picture a round butt with shiny bakelite (looking) grips - but I can't find a copy of that image anywhere in my archives and am old enough that I may just be making it up.

Which is why I suggested the potential customer inquire here. In case SOMEbody has first hand experience they'll share.

Thanks for any help. I have a more orderly system for saving images now, so if anybody posts one I'll probably grab it and save it for future reference.

When the Tyler grip adapter finally broke on my ‘68 Colt Cobra I ordered another b/c no one else had anything similar that would fit. Like everyone else they cashed my check and ignored many requests for a status of the order. After about four weeks it arrived and this was about 10 years ago. Nothing has changed, and since then I’ve ordered my grip adapters from a member here. Good product, fair price and excellent service.

thanks,
I apologize, I guess I didn't read your post closely/correctly. Thought you were just looking for an adapter for I frame, didn't register to me that you were looking for a BK adapter. Answer to your question is that I don't know. I would think one for J frame would work, maybe a bit of sanding, etc. I only have the Tyler adapters and most of time they don't fit perfectly either.

If I am not mistaken, the radius between the trigger guard and grip on an I frame is smaller than on a J frame. That being the case, you may be able to modify a BK adapter to fit, but it would be trial and error fitting. Grips will not interchange, ask me how I know.....

I think it is just a case that they operate on their own time by and large. In the internet age, we think they should be doing better, but they are really just providing a service for those of us who want the Tyler brand. Determine which makes sense for you. It's the market that will dictate longterm what will happen. I have ordered many times from them, some are quick some are a wait. No biggie. I don't need them immediately. Times change. People want everything now...ya we are the customer but they also don't have to sell to us. I equate it to a craftsmen (or woman) that is good at what they do, but it is not all they do. Patience or go somewhere else. They have never to my knowledge not followed through. I have about 20+ sets and counting...just in case.

IF Tyler's had delivered the last ones I ordered from them in four or five weeks, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. That's about what I expected. However, the last ones I ordered took so long to get to me, that I had written them off. I figured not only would I never see the product, that money was long gone. I forget exactly how long now, but it seems to me it was three months or more. The amount of money was small, so I wasn't going to go broke or anything, but I also decided I wouldn't spend any more with them.

I know the company was having some hard times back then, but that only carries you so far when you don't make any effort to communicate with your customers. An answering machine message, a line on a web page, shoot, just not cashing my check if you can't deliver the product, would go a long way toward keeping you from looking like a crook.
