Picked up this 64-4 at gunshow today. I thing $265 was a good price. I'm trying to nail down date and any history if anyone knows? It is factory bobbed hammer and double action only so I am thinking it was some form of PD or Corrections gun possibly? I saw somewhere NYPD used the 64's along with others I'm sure. Seller had older ones and "newer" ones, I chose the older ( firing pin in hammer". Serial number is BSY6xxx. I know the gun is nothing "special" but was looking to see when it was made and any other tid bits from the experts. Thanks!
Very sought after piece! You done real good! 2inch 64s are running twice what you paid in my neck of the woods. Shoot it, you are gonna love it!
Welcome to the forum from Arkansas.
I'll bet it's a Brinks gun. They sold or traded in a bunch of 2" and 4" 64s a while back and they've been showing up at great prices ever since. I snagged one with the lock for a very nice price a while back, but I traded it for a BNIB 10-22 Takedown... the lock and bobbed hammer just didn't scream "keeper!" to me. I still have a 64-3 4", 64-4 2" and 64-5 3" in the safe, though.
