Default Model 13-2 Price Check Please?

Hello gents, new forum member here, but not so new to S&W revolvers. That said, I could use some more expert advice regarding a model 13-2 available locally.

Armslist ad:
https://www.armslist.com/posts/97271...eather-holster

Via email the seller has offered me the gun w/holster for $550. I’m just not familiar enough with this model to competently assess a fair value for both seller and buyer.

He also sent me this following additional information via email...

“I just removed the grips and here's everything stamped on the left side of the frame:
E12
G7
G8D
.3
61794

Here's everything stamped on the right side of the frame:
4538
circle Z
triangle H

This is stamped on the underside/butt of the frame:
4D87055.”

Based on the above information, and the ad itself, how would the S&W forum brain trust value this gun? I was thinking closer to $450, but I may be way off. Unsure.

Thanks very much for any assistance.

That's a mighty nice looking specimen. I actually just picked up a 13-3, which was the transition away from the pinned barrel. I got mine for $399, but it was not as nice as that one, having more obvious holster wear.

In that shape, with the pinned barrel (is it also recessed?) , I'm thinking $450 is a steal. $500 - $550 is reasonable. His "well over $700", not so much.....

Welcome to the FORUM! I sold a 13-2 in 2017 for $550. Buyer did not try to talk me down. When I bought it, (according to the seller, & looked it) had less than than 1 box of specials through it. No box or extras. Bob

I'll make the argument that the gun is worth every bit of $625-700. $550 is a REALLY good price. I wouldn't think twice about it.

I would be a little careful because the seller is not registered with Armslist but that could easily be overcome with a face to face meeting.

This past weekend I gave 500 for a 13-1, a very nice pistol, I had one several years ago and let a friend talk me out of it, won't happen again. The Model 13 is a fine handgun, extremely accurate, you won't be sorry with your purchase. Welcome to the forum,

If you want a fine specimen , buy it. Search to world over and maybe - just maybe , you'll find one for a bit less. Now , why would you do that , unless your desire is a casual one?

Key words in this equation : WANT , and AVAILABLE. Add them up and the sum is BUY. Simple math.

Yeah, actually - I agree. The one that I lucked into this last weekend was the first one I'd seen in probably over 15 years at a LGS.

Gents, is this a gap between the frame and grip? Assuming these are not the original grips, is that normal for a 13-2 frame? And exactly what would the original grips have been?

"And exactly what would the original grips have been? "

The standard grips for a M13 would have been Magnas.

Appreciate all the input, gents. Bagged this beauty for $525. I’m happy, seller’s happy... it’s a perfect Sunday in the south.
