Hi and welcome to the Forum.

The Highway Patrolman with a 4" barrel is one of my all-time favorite S&W revolvers. A very early Model 28-2 was the first centerfire revolver I ever fired, back in the early 1960s. I've been in love with them ever since and have owned more than my share of them through the years. I doubt you will ever be sorry you have that one.

The serial number on yours probably indicates it shipped in 1980. Guns in the N550000-N599999 range were assembled over time as batches of Model 28 were built up in response to demand. Some in that range went out the door as early as 1978, but known shipments would suggest yours went out later. Only a "factory" letter could tell you for sure.

Yours is very nice looking. Congrats.

The numbers on the yoke that you asked about are irrelevant to anything at this point. The N number is the serial.
