Default Newly acquired 30-1

I not only scored a 66-3 last weekend, I found an unfired J frame in the form of a 30-1, dated to 1969. I was going to move my wife into this gun. The 32, while pretty diminutive, is about all she can handle and I think this is better than nothing. After getting home, I don't know if she should her hands on an unfired 50 year old gun and maybe I will stick with her KelTec 32.

Anyway, no box etc. Did get a pretty price though. I already had a older box and actually had a owners manual for a 30-1. Not sure if it is period correct. I already have quite a lot of ammo as I also have a Smith 432.

Anyway. It is a pretty little pistol that will probably become a safe queen.

That's really nice, but it needs to be shot!

That 30-1 has a cylinder long enough to be reamed out to take the 32 H&R Mag, which is a far superior round than the 32 SWL.

Nice little revolver..32 S&W long is nothing to sneeze at. Stick her with the Kel-Tec P32? I carry one everywhere and is my absolute favorite pocket gun. It's even ended up in the washer by mistake. I guess that's one way to clean it..

With that obvious turn line, the gun is no safe queen. Might as well shoot the snot out of it.

I'll tell this story yet one more time.
When the arthritis in my wife's hands got so bad she could no longer handle the recoil of her Detective Special, we found her a nice Model 30-1. She absolutely loved it! She shot it very well and the recoil didn't hurt her hands.
We kept it loaded with the Magtech 98gr SJHPs which have an excellent reputation for penetration and expansion.
Don't deny your wife of this fine, little gun.

"I already have quite a lot of ammo as I also have a Smith 432."

The 432 is chambered for 32 H&R Magnum, not 32Long/32S&W. Or did you mean you have a lot of 32L that you shoot in the 432?

I have a stash of both. Found some on sale on the web and bought quite a bit of SW Long, thinking one day my wife and I would shoot range stuff together in the form of the Long. Also found some Magnum. The 432 Mag will shoot all 32 I have put in it, except the ACP I had LOL. The Magnums are a little too expensive to use as range fodder.

And I know, the KelTec is a very reliable gun, that is the reason I got one for my wife and college aged daughter. My first semi auto was a KelTec 40.
