Yep I have 4 guns in 38 spl and 4 guns in 357. I only carry one of the 357 so the others are really shelf weights.
I feel I pretty much have my gun buying in check now. You notice I said NOW. Any moment that could change though I think a relapse is less possible now. I now can actually read a gun review or watch a video without checking availability and best pricing.
I came to have an 640-1 thanks to this forum and I have an LC9s due to another forum. Yep it isn't my fault I tell ya. But I am much better now. LOL

I had a sickness that involved Heavy barreled .22 match rifles for a while. After owning about 20 of them, I am now down to three. It is a sickness I tell ya! The S&W's are my most recent fix, but at least they are only half the price of the rifles........

I feel feverish and dizzy most of the time. Maybe I'll have to increase the dosage of the BP meds...

NAAHHHH!!! I think I'll just find a nice K-frame and persevere.

Nope, you ain't sick at all YET. You don't have a problem till you start counting your .38's and .357's by the dozen. And STAY away from .22's and .44's. You'll never stop buying them, no matter how many you already got.Only people who have to buy extra gunsafes just to keep their S&W's in are sick. SURELY, there is no one on this forum like that.....

So what you're saying is that you only need one gun safe? You're not truly sick yet.

I have been to a couple "Guns Anonymous" meetings (we used to have one every Friday late afternoon at a friends house). Unfortunately all those meetings prompted me to "BUY MORE".

As mentioned here before, the good news is there is a 12-step program for the S & W revolver addiction. The bad news is you are still 5 revolvers short. At least.

It isn't a sickness until you try to reduce the size of your collection and instead, it grows.

Being here is like holding an AA meeting at the local bar. Talk to your wife...she will help you... Unless she is an avid shooter then you are sunk!

My name is Jim and I've been addicted to model 27's since 1974.

And I plan to stay addicted until I am pushing daisies too.

AJ,

No need to be concerned until you start bumping the two dozen mark on S&W wheel guns. Another piece of friendly advice is to stay well away from the .32's. They only feed the need. Some have referred to this plight as a "slippery slope", I much prefer the "greased slide" analogy. Have fun it's a great ride. hardcase60

What a bunch of sick souls. I am well below the 2 dozen mark of Smith revolvers at 22. There is no way I would ever buy 2 more wheel guns made by S and W. I typing this because my wife might read it.

If your wife yell at you, "Why do you need so many guns?" tell her, "cause they only hold six shots each... sweetheart."

You think you got a problem now?!

Wait until you "find" your first 44Spl!

Don't even start me on the various 44 mags, and then there's the 25's.

You like 357... ever shoot a 27?

Look out retirement fund! Ramen noodles for dinner again!

Had my first .44 Mag in 1976. It was a Model 29-2 4 inch, shot it all the time. Had many thousands of round through it until I broke my wrist in a boating accident. After that it caused intense pain to shoot it, so it was sold. My philosophy is if i don't shoot it, then sell it.

I knew I was in trouble when I bought my 6th or 7th snubbie Model 10 and my .38-44 HD and the LGS owner said to me, "You ought to get on the Smith & Wesson Forum, and join the S&W Collector's Assn."

DO WHAT?

This is on line? I have been gun talking on line for 20 years and how come I don't know about this? Thus it began, in 2013.......

So, I'm done, I have all of the S&W revolvers I ....want? need? Wait, what about my grail guns? And so it goes.....I don't think I doubled the collection since I hooked up here but it certainly expanded nicely. If I add in the pistols with the revolvers, well, it's not THAT many compared to some but, still, the word "dozens" can be used.....

I take aspirin for this sickness; it's the least I can do!

In fact we started a Smith and Wesson AA group. We had to disband. As our membership grew and we talked about our collections we discovered models each of us did not have. We then started buying more revolvers! I need help but I am afraid to join a new group.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

On the other hand if yours is a sickness than others on this forum need a full intervention.

I have primer marks on my forearms...I walk with an IV bottle filled with gunpowder & brass...I am the 13th step...when I confess to my maker, he asks blue or nickle...yes, I am weak. Forgive me, for I shoot, and, therefore I am.

If that's a sickness, I hate to think what I have, as I have that in J frames, not even to talk about the K, L, and N frames, and the Colt's and Rugers.

And that just covers the revolvers...................

I have only been a forum member for a little while and am having
Symptoms already. I picked up a 38 and a 357 this week. Fortunately I
Have to work this weekend so at least the swelling won't get any worse...

A fellow addict here.
First step to recovery would be to block this site. This place has put ideas in my head that has dinged my bank account too many times to count.

Also, eschew the mix of smooth bourbon, a laptop/tablet, and GoneBroker.

As Roy says: 'We hope this helps.....'

Darn, you've come to the worst place to inquire about the dreaded S&W disease. These guys are the worst sort of enablers it has ever been my good fortune to run across. anyhoo I hate to be the one to tell you that there is no cure for the disease you have. You can keep it in remission by getting one S&W per month at the bare minimum. If you go over the one a month you must be aware that multiples during that month can bring on a kind of euphoria which will lead you to even getting more S&W's. have fun and enjoy your new addiction. Frank

Sorry to hear about your affliction. But I know what you mean, I recently picked up a lcr as a impulse buy...didn't need it but I bought it anyway.

I think the best way to ween yourself off .38s and .357s is with a nice (or a couple of nice) .44 mag or spl snubbies. I know mine helped me, I mean I only recently picked up another .38 and will be heading to the gun show today to see what else is available, so if that's not a full recovery I don't know what is.

PS. Support groups are also good because you get to see what other people have and what you need to add to your collection.
