Default Finally got a Model 48-4

Seeing some of the eye candy that you guys post on here makes me more than a bit humble, but I am excited nonetheless to announce I finally got a Model 48-4. Been watching the auction sites and LGS for a year or so, many of them go for too much money I thought since I shoot all my guns and don't need a safe queen. Most of my K-22's are 4" (model 18's) and 6" (Model 17's) so I really wanted a 8-3/8" barrel M48, since that is my preference in my M57's and M29's too. Bid on this one and won it at a fair price and it arrived today in way better condition than the seller described, so I am a happy camper. Of course I took it out back immediately and burned up a box of CCI Maxi-mags and I am still grinning. The long sight radius helps these 62 year old eyes, the crisp trigger is classic S&W, and the gun just FEELS right. What will I use it for? Hell, I don't know; squirrels, raccoons and skunks raiding the chicken coop? Probably mostly tin cans and barbeque plinking. I think it was made around 1978/79 but not sure, the manual is a Bangor Punta version, but the quality of this gun seems very good throughout.

Wow LJ that is one beautiful K22 Magnum! I usually prefer the 4" Combat Masterpiece, but there's just something very attractive about the long tube on your 48.

Congrats on your new revolver!

I love my Model 48-4. It's a great shooter and I love the bark it lets out at the range to let other shooters know there's a Magnum on the line, even if it is a .22 caliber one. I'm not usually enamored with the 8 3/8" tube on a revolver, but with your K Frame in .22 MRF it makes perfect sense.

I am sure you found that the long tube K frame balances much better than you think it would. Enjoy it. I have 4", 6" and 8.375" 48's and enjoy them all.
