Default 66-1 2 1/2 Inch Photo Added

Just picked up a 66-1 2 1/2 inch it has Pachmyer grips no box or anything else. $400.00 guessed it was a good buy at that price. Will get pictures up later. Question were there ever target hammers and triggers or the smooth wide combat triggers available for these revolvers?

I have an ex-detective's 2.5" Model 19 and he had a target trigger installed after grinding off the serrations and giving it a good polish.

Smith and Wesson was willing to offer "up-grades" to their products of an "Up-graded" price. Or the hammer and trigger could have been aftermarket. Based on the custom trigger, I'm guessing it was an aftermarket install.

Now you just picked up a great revolver for a great price. I paid quite a bit more for my 2 1/2" M 66-1 several years ago.

Be sure to shoot and enjoy that guy.

You did great on the price & gun! I shot my 66-2 yesterday for the 1st time. I hate to tell you, but I paid $725 for mine. (gun only) I have not found the right stocks for it yet. I tried a few things. Bob

Those rubber grips are ugly I need to find a good pair of round butt wood grips to replace them. And I will be searching for an original stainless still target hammer and trigger if they were ever made. I had a Texas Ranger now my daughters that had a nice smooth combat trigger one of those would be just great. I imagine most of the parts for this vintage K-Frame are long gone though.

br25004x4- Carl?
That's an out standing buy. I believe that would have been around
$600-$650 here in Northern Colorado. I had a 66- 2-1/2in. if i didn't give it to a kid.
I am originally from Nebraska also.

Good luck with the stocks! Magna style are too small for me. Add a Tyler, or BK extension, and it is a little better. Finger groove stocks don't work for me. Altamont has some nice items, but a little slim for me. BUT.......Everyone is different! Bob

I have a set of round butt stocks that I believe will fit. If you are interested, send PM.

Also, any K,L, or N frame trigger will fit. They are all the same, just be sure to get one of the cast ones, not MIM. They are now on the used market as Smith does not make parts for the older guns.

While that is possible, I would leave the hammer and trigger as they are. That gun was made for double action shooting and that trigger will work fine for it. The wide target hammers and triggers do not do as well for double action work.

Likewise, any K frame target hammer will fit. While close, they are not always drop in parts and some fitting may be necessary.

By the way, Very nice find at an extremely good price. Mostly they are for sale at nearly twice the price!

I bought your revolvers twin brother right down to the Pachs for the same price. I think we got a deal! I also am on the lookout for a set of magnas but being cheap I am looking for a bargain. FWIW there is a set on this board now for sale here http://smith-wessonforum.com/accesso...dies-pics.html There was a guy at the last gun show locally that had a bunch of square and round butt magnas for $25 a set but that was before I had the gun. Hope I can run into him at the next show.
