Default Snub 66's flying off the shelves

I see two that were sold recently with one selling on the same date stamp as the posting.
Think that must be a new record.

One of the best Smiths that were produced IMHO. Load it up or down and it still is a fun shooting gun. What prices were they getting?

I got mine a about 3 years ago only it's a model 19. Shoot it, carry it, do whatever. I take it to the range a lot. It's a 19-3 that I purchased from a forum member here. Up until a few years ago it had been used very little. I changed all of that. 357 is the most versatile revolver cartridge ever developed. Just went thru 100 rounds of it yesterday in a carbine.

Just picked one up myself. Never thought I could afford one but found a nice shooter at a nice price. Now if I can only find time to shoot it.

Thought I should add a picture.

Has two dings on offside.

I bought a 66-2 at the March gun show. Had to have it. Got $70 off the seller's asking price of $795, for $725. That is steep to me. Shot it Thursday, and was impressed. I am still looking for the right wood stocks for it. Bob

Ralph, this one was listed here, at the forum, yesterday, it sold in 90 minuets. If as advertised at was UNDER priced.

I have a nice 2 1/2" 686-3, but a few months ago I traded an AR-15 franken gun for a 2 1/2" 66-5. It has some MIM, a frame mounted firing pin, but no internal lock, it is a great carry weapon, and I like the little bit of weight loss from the 686. I never saw the big attraction to the 66 until I got one.

There is a local shop that has a bad reputation for being high priced. Maybe on new guns but I've scored some good used deals.
I recently stopped by just to browse, Lo and behold I see a 66-1 2-1/2" for $400. Thank God for credit cards. It had some light pitting under the left side but I was able to remove it.
I've been on a run of K frames. A 64HB, a 64 pencil, a RHKP 10 and this 66-1.

Amazingly accurate for a snub. Miles ahead of a J frame IMHO. I'm on a paper plate at 25 yds. with mine, but I shoot it a lot. That price is about what they sell for around here. I paid $700 for mine.

I think the only difference in a 10 and a 66 is the cylinder, barrel length and of course the sights.

That looks to be a shorter barrel than a 2 1/2". I'm not sure adj sights are useful on a snub but there just the same. Model 10 would be my choice if I couldn't have a 19 or 66. Has to be a K frame.

I recently bought a short barrel model 60 because I don't like adj. sights. I might buy a model 66, if the rear sight could easily be removed and replaced with a plain rear sight. Anyone know of such a thing?

My favorites for the snubby 66s and 19s are Ahrends concealment stocks, with finger grooves. Very comfortable and controllable, with minimal printing. I got mine on e-bay. Good looking, too!

Yes, the two I was speaking about were sold on this forum.
One showed to sell at the same time it was posted.

I'm looking to replace one that was recently stolen. Didn't take it out of the truck like I normally do since we were heading out to dinner. Took my wife's car instead and forgot about it.

The idiot sign on my forehead is about wore off.

It was a 66-8 but sure miss that gun.

K frames have always been my favorite.

I've owned a couple over the years, but don't currently.

I wanted a snub Combat Magnum ever since Jim Rockford shot down a plane with his.

Always liked Rockford Files show.
That looks like a 3" barrel model 19

but maybe a model 66 (still 3"er)

I HAD, 2, 36's. A 2" rb, and a 3" sb. My son has the 2 incher. I sold the 3" and bought a super nice 13-2. 2" K is much better.
I also have a 10-5, 2" RB.

I just picked up a 2 1/2" dash -2 and a 4" no dash, last week, paid just over $900 total OTD (but they were both "well loved" or is that well used?).

Just picked this one up off of Cabelas Gun Library. It could use some cleaning up, but as a shooter/working gun, it will do just fine.

They have been a hot item here for a long time. This one lasted exactly 45 seconds. The guy put it in the case, I asked if it was for sale, I took it home.

That was 4 years ago...

While I'll readily admit the M19/66 2.5" Snub is probably the best looking Snub they ever made, I opted for the M65 3" instead. I preferred the extra 1/2 " of barrel, the fixed sights and no under lug. STILL, no comparison as to which one will win a beauty contest!
