2 Inch M&P Front Sight
Could anyone tell me approximately when Smith & Wesson quit using the full blade/half moon front sight on the 2" Bbl. M&P ? I recently acquired a two-incher (C352xxx) that lettered to Mar. 14, 1956. It has the "newest" hammer (flatter, sharp-toothed spur), but the old, full blade front sight (Bbl. is numbered to gun.) Thanks so much for any info.!! - webley6

I can't say for sure when they were phased out, but it is clear that they stuck around on the 2" version longer than they did on those with longer barrels. I'm not at all surprised to see one show up on a 1956 revolver. I believe I've seen them even later than that.
Note: I have a 1951 M&P with a 4" barrel that still has the half-penny front sight.

Per SCSW the round sight was discontinued in 1952, but as Jack has pointed out there were 2" guns still shipping several years after that date with the round sight.
I have always wanted a 2" M&P Round Butt! Never have seen one except in pictures.

I'll take it! You can keep the J-frame Tyler though.

Since I took the photo, I was able to find a Tyler that fits. Need to take an updated photo. I like the feel of the standard stocks and a Tyler, and I have more guns than grip adapters, so they get moved around a bit, and I don't always have the correct one on a gun.
I think that the Tylers are getting harder to find than the guns to put them on!!
Best Regards, Les
