Default Factory grip for Model 66 no dash?

Did all these 4 inch models come with wood grips?
The one I have has the rubber Pachmyer and looks to be about same age as gun. Most of the 66's I see here have the nice wood grips.

Back in the it was common place for a new owner to install rubber grips the day the gun was purchased, especially with LEOs.
So, the grips may have ridden on the gun for decades and look original.

Yes, walnut Magna or service stocks for RB 2.5" guns and Target Goncalo Alves stocks with the small (football) relief cut on the left panel. Rubber stocks worked better for many.

Were there any K frame RB Target grips(bananas) with the football cutout and black washers?

I also have many sets with silver washers both smooth and checkered but have never seen any with black washers and football cutout.

I believe the soft synthetic rubber style grips first appeared on shipping S&W revolvers in the late 80s although they were available from venders much earlier than that.
The S&W 625-2 Model of 1988 shipped Pachmyer rubber grips while the 625-2 Model of 1989 shipped with Hogue rubber grips

Target stocks made of Goncalo alves are correct for your Model 66. Click on the photo for a better look.
