Model 29-2 8 3/8" barrel, nickel value check
Hey guys. My father bought a model 29-2 sometime in 195-76. The serial number on it is N382-XXX. It has never been fired, is still in its case with tools.
Does anyone have an estimate of its value? He passed over 9 years ago, and I still haven't brought myself to fire it (he never fired it either).
Thanks for your input.

I'm going to take a wild guess at it and say between $1100 and $1200. I have one like you describe without the box and goodies and paid about $750 for it. The 8 3/8" barrel is less popular - the shorter the barrel the more popular for some reason. When you say the "case" is it a wooden case? Or a cardboard box? That can make a couple of hundred dollars difference in value.
Oh, welcome to the forum!

Check the online prices to have another estimate too. These longer barrels have been a red headed stepchild in the past pricewise but lately I been seeing these soaring pricewise. Nickel and unfired, being still NIB will raise the price too. Nickel revolvers do bring a higher price. I just seen a used m27-2 with a 8 3/8" barrel in nickel with small handling marks that's been fired asking $1,200. If say yours might be $1,500 maybe more.

The case is the original wooden case, blue velvet lined with the tools.

Thank you! The case is the wooden case, blue lined with the tools all still inside.

Display boxes have been known to damage the finish of guns left in them for long periods of time, I don't know the in's and out's of this but thought it worth mentioning.

Thanks for mentioning. Might have to look into storing separate from its case if I'm going to try and keep it mint.
