Default New (to me) 29-2

Was on another forum and a member posted that a shop about 45 minutes from me had a nickle 6 1/2" 29-2 on consignment. He said the gun was excellent and was doing its 30-day hold at the FFL (California state law requirement) before it could be DROS'd. I've been wanting a 6 1/2" nickle 29 to go with my blued one so I took a ride to check it out. I was surprised when I saw it as I immediately noticed the blued front sight and base, and beautiful diamond targets. Looked it over and sure enough it was an "S" prefix gun in excellent shape. The presentation case is lacking but the gun makes up for it. The guy at the counter said even though it was in the 30-day hold, it could be purchased and DROS'd when the hold was up. So, I bought it! Won't be able to do the paperwork until May 18th and will then have to wait the obligatory 10-days before I can pick it up. Not a problem. The Standard catalog puts the manufacture date at about 1965. These rarely come up for sale in California so I think the $1200 price was fair, especially considering the condition.

Here's a ****** phone photo. The gun looks much better in person.

Pretty hard to make that one look bad, even with a cell phone camera.
Congrats,

I don't see how you could get it for less than that no matter where you are! Good buy.

Wow......that thing is absolutely gorgeous. You owe the forum member who told you about it about half dozen big fat cigars.
