I am trying to find a Smith and Wesson K22 (17-2) revolver with 8 inch barrel for my mother. Long ago, her father (a lifetime NRA member) passed away. A few years ago my grandmother found the gun and gave it to my mother; it was the only memento she had from her father. Unfortunately, the gun was destroyed in a house fire a few years back. I've since tried find a K22 as a replacement. I've searched on most of the "known" sites and a lot of the guns I've found have been out of my price range. I came here hoping that someone might be able to point me in the direction of a more affordable replacement. I know I'll be spending a lot of money, I just can't dip into the 1000s to do it. I'm not looking for something in great condition; merely something that can be a displace piece. It'd be great if it worked, but that isn't a requirement. Anyway, if anyone can offer some suggestions to a novice who isn't familiar on the ins and outs of firearm purchases, I'd really appreciate it.

You should try the wanted section here. A good friend of mine just sold a long tube 17-4 for $1250 at a local show. A 17-2 would probably be more...

Yes, the above suggestion is a good one. Place a want to buy ad here on the forum along with your reasons as you stated above. Lots of nice guns change hands here at reasonable prices. Good luck in your quest.
