Default Question about SW Model 36 older model?

Hello!

New member, new pawn and gun shop, new question.........

Had a model 36 (no dash) come in today. Pics included. Serial number is 665xxx. Diamond grips, square butt. Box does not match revolver since it says round butt. It has been played with (turn line). Any idea when it was made? I can figure out the value, I think. Feel free to provide that insight if you'd like.

Thanks for your help!!!!

A Model 36 with serial number 6444xx was recently identified as shipping in May, 1968. That would give a pretty good indication that yours shipped the same year and probably just a bit later than May. But without a letter, you can't be sure.

1968 would be right on the edge for the diamond stocks, actually pushing the envelope a bit but still possible. Do those number to the gun?

Welcome! When you run into any S & Ws please feel free to post here for good information and likely willing buyers.

Is there a white label on the right side of the box? If so and the serial number on it matches the gun, it was simply packed in a box with the wrong printing indicating it has a RB frame.

Great info, gang! I'll take the grips off and see if they have any numbers on them. The box only has the writing in the pics, I think. I'll check and post another pic if it has more on it.

Thank you!!!

Default Good info and thanks!

This is all great info and I really appreciate your feedback. Will remove the grips this week and tell you what I find. Will also check the box for more markings and advise.
