My little N frame collection
I finally found where I stashed my camera and did a few quick and dirty pics of my N frame pistols. The first 2 pics are my model 27 guns in all common barrel lengths. The last are the 27's with my 629-3 Classic and my 627-5 Pro in the picture. Pardon my pics, as it's night and had to use a flash and nickel guns are just hard to get in a pic real good anyways.
All the 27's are -2 models except my 6 1/2 blue gun, which is a 27-5. The 5" 27-2 (third from bottom) is my first pistol I bought back in 1974 and is what got me hooked on n frame revolvers.

Thank you everyone. Sorry it took me a while to get back, but I went to the range today and when I came back I crashed out for a couple hours after supper. It sure was warm today, with temps in the upper 80's.
I took my 4" and my new 6" I got from Iggy to the range today and shot them a little. They are no longer unshot except for the factory test shots. I ran 50 rounds each through them and I must say that both shot extremely well, as I figured they would. I also shot a couple hundred rounds through my AR and had a great time visiting with some of my fellow old timers there too. They had an older gent there shooting some kind of PPC unlimited class of gun, which is a critter I've never seen before. Weirdest looking "rifle" I've ever seen, but accurate as all get out. He also had a hunter class rifle in 7 x 47 mm he shot, which wasn't any slouch either.
Here is a pic of the 4" and 6" guns all sweaty from the range, before cleaning.

Yeah, you got that right. And it was actually a real blast to shoot both, one right after the other. It was neat how much more tame the recoil was with just a 2 inch longer barrel. The 4" gun's recoil was much sharper than the 6" gun, but the ammo was loaded pretty warm too. Around 16.5 grains of H110 running some Zero 158 grain JSP bullets. Cleanup has been pretty easy with both pistols too.
While cleaning them I almost pulled a big dummy but the assembly numbers on the guns saved the day. I have pulled the yoke and cylinders off both of them to clean and apply Ren wax and like a big dummy I had set the yoke from the 4" gun on a table that had the 6" gun and it's yoke sitting on after wiping off the Ren wax. The assembly number on the yoke let me be sure whick yoke went to which gun.

I almost swapped yokes once too cleaning a couple of 629s and got saved by the assembly numbers. It was a short lived panic moment!!

MD, those are beautiful revolvers. I only have 5 N frames, but they are indeed a special breed!! Love those nickle Ns!!!

Very nice collection. I'm a big fan of N frames as well. Most of my S&W revolvers are N frames. Glad I bought them when they were more affordable.

I LOVE N frames and I LOVE your collection. But to be quite honest, they are just a bit too big for my hand. But I don't care, they are just too beautiful to not keep and cherish. For shooting, give me my L frames.

I guess it's what you are used to. To me the N frames are just a bit more comfortable than an L frame, but both are a joy to shoot. My buddy has a 6" no dash 686 and I've shot it a bit and it's a real sweet shooter, but I rather the feel of my 27's over his 686.
But the new 2.75" 69 has been beckoning me lately too as I think that is a neat looking gun and probably fun to shoot with less than max 44 Mag rounds.
