Two weeks ago I sold a 99% blued 58 from 1967 with original diamond PC grips, no box or papers for $1025. Hardly had a turn line.

Saw a blue one, LNIB, sell for $2K on GunBroker a few weeks ago...that was the highest I had ever seen bid for a 58....

Check the completed auctions on GB for an idea what the average selling price is...

Went over and looked at the completed auctions for the last 90 days...

Excellent to LNIB average seems to be $1100.. Actual selling prices were from $950 to 1200....

You sold that one?

One of the reasons I passed on it was it was too nice to actually shoot.

I've wanted one for years, but sadly, they have now passed far beyond what I could give for one. Ah well, maybe some distant uncle will die and leave one to me some day. (sigh)

Yea, that's why I decided to sell it. I've been selling all the ones that are too nice to shoot and buying nice shooters. As I get older I feel I can't enjoy them as much if I can't use them. I worry if I use a safe queen that any use will lower the value, and I have a "one out, one in" policy since I can't afford to just buy and not sell.

I had three Safe Queens that I sold last year to fund some other guns my self.
My 19-4, 29-2 and 629 no dash all found new homes.

In 1974....
I bought thru my Dept. A model 58 for $52.50.
Also sprung for an off duty mdl 19 2 1/2 in. $ 62.50.
Patrolman wage was $725 month.
Lost both in a divorce.😠

One more opinion.

I'll quote from "the good book", err the SCSW 4th edition:
"ANIB $1100"
"Excellent $950"
"10% premium for nickel"

I would opine possible another $100 or so for one from 1968 or earlier with original numbered diamond grips.

Last week I picked up a model 58, about 85% blueing, grips had a some wear. I bought it from the man who bought it new in the late '60's. He had carried it for years as a game biologist, but had fired it less than 100 rounds. You can barely see a turn line. Paid $700 for it and I think I got a great deal. I wanted one that was tight but didn't want to pay for LNIB because I plan to carry and use it frequently. I really appreciate the mint ones, but I just don't have any use for something that I'm afraid to use. I've had it out a few times and just love it. I also have a Model 57 8 3/8" (near mint), but right now the m58 is my favorite. It would seem like the super nice ones would command $1000 - $1400.
