Default N Frame Diamond Targets, Round Butt???

I recently purchased a set of Smith and Wesson grips that are for a N frame round butt revolver. I have a k frame round butt revolver, and they were too large for it. The brass medallions are worn down, and you can barely make out the S&W. I have never seen n frame round butt target grips. Can anyone shed some light on these. Thanks in advance for any info and value. I'm having a problem downloading pictures. I seem to be electronically challenged.

Were those the ones on the ebay auction?

I think that those were custom by belt sander?

If you can post some pics?

N frame diamond "bananas"

Someone did an a lot of work transforming N frame square butt diamond targets into round butt. They did a nice job but ruined a pair of valuable grips doing it.

I bet they'd look good on a 625 or 629.

Not really, my friend, as they were never what you are thinking they were.
Look at the washer color and diamond

Agree with StakeOut, with the addition of replaced stock medallions and washers.

The diamonds and checkering are custom. The stocks date to the mid-70s or later, long after the diamonds had disappeared.

Yes, that's a S&W checkering pattern, but no way did that come out of Springfield. The center diamonds are unbalanced, checkering is uneven and incomplete, borders are not S&W, but I think I see the remnants of factory borders near the top. Looks to me like modifications to a pair of football targets. May or may not have originally been diamond centers.

JMHO,
Larry

On the diamond grips I have the diamond pattern is raised higher than the checkering. In the photos the diamond appease to be level with the checkering. The checkering appears recut.Possibly the maker started with post diamond smooth SB targets?

Putting SB targets on my 625-2 shows it's not that hard to make round from square but the grip pin hole needs a slight relocation

Jist a nitpiky thang, but Smith & Wesson revolvers use a solid pin to locate the grips.
