Default model 65-3 value

recently purchased a model 65-3 new in the box , I think I made a steal at $350. I don't think this gun is still in production but not sure does anyone have information on or know the value of them? The gun has a 3" barrel ,fixed sights and round butt and is stainless.

Checked my calendar to make sure it's not April 1.

If you really payed that price, for a truly LNIB 3" 65-3, then yes, you stole it!

Hi Blue57:

Welcome to the Forum. You are correct, the Model 65 is no longer in production. Additionally, the Model 65 (any dash number) with a 3.0 inch long barrel is very highly prized. I don't think $700.00+ for a revolver like yours, especially with the original factory box, documents and goodies is out of line. I also have a Model 65-3 with a 3.0 inch barrel that I bought from a fellow Forum member a few years ago, and I think I paid around $350.00 for it, and it was used, without the original box, grips, etc. - and I still consider it a good buy. I believe the DEA issued the Model 65 with the 3.0 inch barrel to their agents back in the day when revolvers (and dinosaurs) roamed the earth. You're right, you stole it! Now go and shoot that sucker!

Regards,

Dave

PS - I added a photo of my Model 13-3 and 65-3 both with 3.0 inch barrels.

Regards,

Dave

Wow! Great deal. A lot of folks would hurt themselves trying to get their wallets out fast enough to buy at that price.

Default I hope you intend to use that revolver

The S&W 65 variants with the 3" HB, RB are fine carry guns. These two get carried more than my other center fire revolvers.

"back in the day when revolvers (and dinosaurs) roamed the earth"

Call me a dinosaur, I own revolvers,GM products and Harley Davidson's, why change what works well? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

For what it's worth I sold a 3" 65-3 that was used for $650 about 8 months ago. Buyer was an inlaw and had been worrying me for a year then to sell it to him. Since I had recently purchased a 3" 65-5 with box and documents for the same price I told him sure $650 and it's yours jokingly. Well out came the wallet and $650 was laid in front of me. Yep I had put my foot in my mouth, he came over the next day to take my beloved -3 home with him.

Those stag stocks were made by Patrick Grashorn.
As were these.

I hate all K frame 3" barrel threads, especially when people score unbelievable deals like this.

BUT I will be posting my own maybe later this week on a pristine 65-5 Lady I bought off a forum member for WAAAAAY more than you paid.
