One of my first Smith and Wessons was a model 60 that I bought new in 1976. Roy says it shipped in February of that year, and I'm sure that I bought it as soon as it got to my local gun store. I had just been on the Police Force about 6 months, and I wanted it for an off duty gun. I still have it, and it has been all over the country with me, including my time at the Smith and Wesson Armorer's School in 1977, where I was allowed to do an action job on it under the watchful eyes of the Instructors there.

This is one of the guns that I will never part with, and it still shoots as accurately as when it was new, maybe more so!!!

Best Regards, Les

Nice guns, folks. I no longer have my model 64's, but I do still appreciate stainless K frames.

Here is a 60-3 which had a bead blasted finish. I prefer polished stainless , so ... I went thru a lot of cloth wheels on my dremel.

I have a opportunity to trade my newly acquired 19-5 4" barrel, nickel plated for a 64-3 SS 3" M&P heavy barrel. It's my best friend and he wants to trade even. I really like both of them, I just don't presently have a .38.

Any feed back (opinions) appreciated.

Leon

I would have a very , very hard time parting with the 19. Load it with .38 and keep it.

My thoughts exactly. If it were a 65, then yes, in a heartbeat.
But I'd have a hard time giving up the versatility of the 357 for a 38 - even a 3-incher....

Oh yeah, almost forgot.....

64-3 Ga Parole Board June 1983

60-2 NY-1 June 1991

60-4 July 1993

60-3 Oct 1988

68-2 O.H.B. (C.H.P.) Dec 1991

I think that's it for stainless .38 Special unless you want to include these that also shoot .38 Special.

686 (my last duty revolver) Aug 1981

66-1 Oct 1979

65-3 June 1986

Sorry, sometimes I just carried away!

Got to shoot it today. Talk about SWEET! I dialed in the laser to co-witness with the iron sights. First shot down the pipe and I hit the center dot in a pistol target at 30 feet off-hand. I couldn't believe it! This one shoots every bit as good as my 15-5 - and the laser is a great training tool.

Ha, that's what I thought too when I was on Vacation last week.
Between the yard work, vegetable planting, and three days of down pours,I never made it to the range for even a cylinder full of fun. Hope your luck is better.

Embarrassed to say I have no idea. It's the current version as it's less than a year old. Frank Glenn did an outstanding job on the action and obviously the Culina's know their way around grips. I wanted a basic .38 revolver that had no baggage or bubba history so I bought it brand new and put about fifty rounds through it before sending it to Frank. Exactly what I wanted and I love it.

Edit: Checked when I got home, it is indeed a -5

My one stainless S&W .38 Special is a 3" M64-3, it is one of my favorite Smiths to shoot!
