19-4 questions
Newly acquired 2.5" 19-4 which does not have a SN on the yoke.
Where does one look for the serial?
My first one without a serial on the Yoke. Thanks everyone!

The serial number will be on the bottom of the butt frame. You may have to remove the grip panels to see it if you have oversize grips on your gun.

Your 19 dates to 1980 (57K0001-91K6800)

On most Model 19 Combat Magnums the serial number was in the yoke cut because the standard was to equip them with target stocks, which covered the butt of the gun (and the serial number). The snub Model 19 normally shipped with round butt Magna stocks, so the butt number was visible, hence no need to put the number in the yoke cut.
I'm not sure when (or if) this changed, but it was true up to and including the early 19-4.

All 75K through 77K were issued in 1979.
All 57K through 68K and 78K through 90K were issued in 1980.
All 69K through 74K and 91K through 99K were issued in 1981.
Hence, 78k4266 is a 1980 serial number.
