Model 29 (no dash)
Looking for a date of manufacture for a model 29 no dash in blue with a 6 or 6.5 inch barrel. Serial number is S2082XX. Any other details such as when Smith went with a 6 inch would be greatly appreciated.

I can only provide a range for the date. It looks like a 1960 gun but I cannot narrow it down any further.

The change to 6-inch came in the very late 70s so your S208xxx gun is long ways from that time.

I have the twin, SN: S2112xx which shipped in June, 1961, according to factory records. Mine has the "Coke" grips. Great gun!

Measure the bbl from the front of the cylinder to the barrel end. Should be 6 1/2".
