Which Smith & Wesson to sell
I need some advise. Unfortunately I need to sell one of my revolvers. Would you sell a S&W model 14-3 or a S&W 686-6 if you had to choose? I love both. Feedback appreciated.

The 686-6 would be my choice of those two.

686 would be easier to replace..... does the -7 have the lock?....if so replace it with an older non-lock when the time is right.

I agree. Sell the easier to replace gun.

All depends.
Do you own other firearms chambered in .357?
How much .357 ammo do you currently own?
The 686 is a current production gun and is, frankly, a superior firearm compared to the 14, especially if the 686 has a 4 or 6 inch barrel. But, they don't make the 14-3 any longer and you can always buy a new 686 later on.
But if you don't own another .357 and you may have a lot of .357 ammo on hand, I'd be hard pressed to tell you to get rid of your only .357 in favor of a .38 special.
Good luck with your decision.

Since I already own a couple 357's I'd dump one of them in favor of keeping the 38. Even if I didn't have 2 I'd still favor the 14 as it is rarer than a 686

In a shootout, sure I'd like the 686.
To own for the rest of my life and enjoy, the 14 by a mile.

My dad taught me that you never sell any Smith & Wesson EVER! Find something else to peddle.....Turns out he was right!

When people are asking which gun to buy, I say, "both of them."
When people are asking which gun to sell, I say, "both of them...to me."
But if you must keep only one, the 14 is the one.

Keep the 14.
As great as 686's are, they are everywhere.
When you eventually replace your 686, pick a real clean nice one.

I was confronted with a similar situation. After considering the
pros and cons, I decided the old women look for a better job.
Keep the 14-3.

This is obviously a trick question. But I think I have the right answer. Keep both and buy a 66, 19 and a 27.
