Default Value of a Model 12 Airweight Flat Latch

Need to pay some bills and wondering the value of my Model 12 Airweight Flat Latch, no dash, 2” round butt.

Great mechanical condition, some blue wear near the muzzle and on the cylinder. Two hammers - one bobbed, one with the spur. It has a ClipDraw on it but that's easily removed.

Instruction manual but no orig box. Great shooter! Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks John. It was manufactured in 1961 or 1962. Older than my old butt!

100%. It's aluminum frame. ClipDraw is held on my 3M double sided tape. It doesn't hurt the finish.

Nice looking model 12 !

Is the spare hammer a "narrow" one that was made for the model 12's?

Re: value question. Looks like no guesses on you question of value have been offered.

Short answer: $500 plus or minus $50 (???) assuming grips number to gun and the clip comes off showing no damage to the finish. Maybe a bit more to a collector looking for a flat latch with diamond stocks/grips?

Long answer: In general a check of completed auctions on Gun Broker (or other known sales) can give you an idea. Keep in mind selling it locally or to a LGS will probably not bring as much and location can make a significant difference. I'm not sure about gun prices in Georgia but would expect they are about average whereas in California this gun might go for an extra $100?

Successfully completed auctions on Gun Broker for 2" Model 12's have ranged from $299 (worse condition than yours) to $581 (nearly perfect condition 12-2 round butt, pinned barrel but with no box). Unfortunately none of the auctions were for flat latch revolvers with diamond center stocks/grips which I would suggest would add some value. The closest in configuration and condition to your gun, a 12-2 (pinned barrel) round butt 2" sold for $467 (it looked like it had a bit nicer finish).

These prices are consistent with prices cited in the SCSW 4th edition for the Model 12:
Excellent condition - $500
Very Good condition - $425
Premium for 2" barrel (although auction prices do no seem to reflect a premium as best I can tell)

As a note of interest the SCSW gives the following values for the "pre-model 12", i.e. the .38 Military & Police Airweight:
Excellent condition - $7000 (seven thousand) which is obviously a typo and should probably be $700 as the ANIB price is $1500.
Very Good condition - $500.

That gun in worn condition, sell for $350. Ask $500. No diet of hot ammo.

Thx gentleman. I'd keep it if I can't get $500 locally. I carry it sometimes but not often anymore. I'm a shooter not a collector but there's something really cool about this old Model 12 IMO.
