Trying to identify my revolver model number
I'm trying to identify my revolver model so I can buy a replacement rear sight. Reading from the forum, the below information is needed:
1. Type Cylinder: Hand Ejector
2. Serial Number: 360995
3. Caliber: .22 long rifle
4. Barrel: 6"
5. Rear Site: Adjustable
6. Screws in hand grip: 3
Thanks

Pics would be helpful and you can upload images from your computer to this web sight, simply push the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom of the posting window. I will also note that the grips on a S&W revolver typically mounted with just one single screw. What I suspect you are referring to are the number of screws on the sideplate and with most grips one of those sideplate screws is covered by the grips.
So, hunches. In your case it's rather easy to make a pretty accurate guess. In a blued finish with a 6 inch barrel, adjustable sights and 22LR caliber that indicates either the K-22 Target Masterpiece or it's "descendent" the model 17.

First, let's assume there is a K in front of that serial number. There pretty much has to be. That would date the gun to 1959, so it should be a Model 17 (MOD 17 in the yoke cut). It is possible, but unlikely, that it is a Model 17-1.
It should have four frame screws; three in the sideplate and one in the front of the trigger guard. There should be no top sideplate screw up near the hammer.
Is all of the above true?

As Jack mentioned, there should be a K in front of the serial number - if it is stamped on the bottom of the grip frame. If the number is stamped on the front grip strap it is a .22/32 Heavy Frame Target from the 1920s, built on the I frame. K frame adjustable sight assemblies are relatively easy to find, but one for an older I frame will be more difficult.

That illusive "K". Makes all the difference.

There is no K in the serial number. The serial number is on the hand grip strap not the bottom. It looks like there are five screws on the frame. Four on the face and one holding the hand grip in place. Pics attached.
Thanks

Your .22 has a name but no model number. Model numbers didn't exist until circa 1958. Your gun is a .22/32 Heavy Frame Target made on the I frame. It was probably produced just after WW1.

What's wrong with the rear sight? It may be easier to fix it then replace it.

Any ideas on good places to look for vintage parts? I'm looking for a rear sight blade.

Try Jack First Gunsmithing, they make many reproduction parts for older guns. A Wanted to Buy ad here may also find you one. Good luck in your search.

Nice .22/32 HFT!
It has five frame screws, but not as you described them. The grip screw does not count. The fifth screw is the one in the front of the trigger guard. That one retains the cylinder stop plunger and spring.
