What year made..??
What year of manufacture??
S&W 4" barrel.
Wood diamond center grips..no medallion.
1908 -1914 barrel dates.
38 S&W Special
Serial #465152
I bought several of these in cosmoline..in late 1970s..supposedly came from either a local Police Dept or a Bank Guard Company...wandering gun show seller had 28 of them in a box..for 35$ each.
Would like to find out info on where they came from originally.

With that serial number I would think sometime in the 30s. Only a factory letter will tell the tale. Some folks here might have records of ship dates for guns with close numbers. Photos would help too.

I think it is closer to the early second half of the 1920s, about 1927. Someone here may get you closer than that.

Most likely late 1923 or 1924. The pattern of shipments and serial chronology is not very precise during that time. S/n 450345 shipped May 1923. I have a record on a 492xxx that shipped in Nov. 1924.

Absolom is closer...I read 465152 and saw 565152...time for a nap .
Roy Jinks is alive and well; he works with the S & W Historical Foundation instead of the factory for letters.

Most likely Jun-Aug time frame 1924. Pics would be nice!
