Default S&W 15-3

I was given this revolver by my Dad before he passed away. It does have the wooden grips. What can you tell me about this handgun.

I can tell you the 15-3 shoots sweet, low recoil, handles great.Mine has smooth target stocks, and I love the feel of the combat guns...Makes me look good!...As far as value, to you that one is priceless.....

15K5578 would indicate your Model 15-3 Combat Masterpiece (nickel finish) was made in 1977.

It was your dad's. Hang onto it.

I like to think that configuration (with the elegant barrel profile) is the best balanced revolver S&W ever made. It shots well and looks like a work of art. I dress mine up with some Ahrends (wood) grips, but there are a lot of wood grips that you could buy for less than $100 that would make that gun pop. BTW, love the nickel finish.

One of the best shooting police revolvers ever made. I've got a 15-3, a pre-15, and a 67 no dash. All are laser accurate.

Keep it and hand it down to your heirs too.
Shoot the heck out of it first.
