Default 25-2 reblued

I just received my 25-2 back from S&W, have owned it since 1980, and they reblued it for me. I once took it out in the Montana cold and when I came back in stupidly put it up on the mantle, 3 days later it had pin prick rust and a few places where it was worse. Always bothered me. So, decided to send it off. Price was reasonable and time-frame not bad.

I do have a question, there were two codes, REVLR1 Ghost Material and CSRVLR CS repairs. It states Barrel finish - wants it reblued and Damaged barrel rifling - pitting.

What is Ghost Material, did a google and search here?

The first item, I wanted the entire gun reblued and the second, well that was a surprise to me. But I think I can tell the barrel on it was reblued, but rest of the writing looks sharp on frame, etc. Its a deep beautiful blue, I have no complaints, the pictures don't do it justice.

Did it come back with the cylinder turn line,or have you been cycling the action a lot ? Just curious.

My guess would be "Ghost Material" is their internal code for a refinish, and someone at the Performance Center has a sense of humor. Unless your model 25-2 is now haunted .

From what I have observed, the nicer the underlying metal and polishing condition, the nicer the refinish tends to turn out. Enjoy!
