Default 4" N Frame Light barrel?

I want to order a holster from Dillon. They have mitch rosen OWB for the 4" N frame. So they list a light barrel and heavy barrel. I have a nickel model 29, and I've never heard a distinction between light and heavy barrel. Is this 44 magnum a heavy barrel? Google is not helping.

The 44 Magnum has a heavy barrel. The 1950 44 Target has a light or tapered barrel, but each with a 4-inch barrel will fit in the same holster in my experience.

Possibly Dillon is referring to a full lug barrel as "heavy"?

I believe they are possible referring to a tapered Barrel like on a Mountain Gun variant of say a 629 or 657.

The model 27 and Model 28 have tapered Barrels.

Your Model 29 does not have a tapered barrel.

It is also the Cat's Meow. That thing is gorgeous.

I wouldn't be sticking that revolver in a holster, I'd be sticking that revolver in a safe. Nickeled 29's that still look like that don't grow on trees. If a blue gun get a little holster wear, you can touch it up. There ain't no touching up nickel.

Model 21 has a tapered barrel. That's probably what they mean by light barrel. Looks to me you want the heavy barrel.

To your point on the nickel. I have a S&W 29-2, 4" barrel that is 100%. It was bought as an investment and I bought it from the original owner.

I bought a lined Safariland holster but decided not to use it on the 29-2. Actually it's a safe queen. I use the holster on other 4" N frames. Safariland lined holsters really do an excellent job of protecting the finish.

If I were Ricky_45 that's the one I would buy. Cross draw or strong side holster.
