SCSW Ed. 3 lists H30002 through H60000 as 1971-1972.
Value wise, if the bore and chambers are clean, the stocks number to the gun, it includes the correct box with the papers, $450.00+ depending on your location. The .32 is not for everyone, only about 98.5% of the members here have any use for such a thing.
Once widely used, the .32 S&W Long is considered anemic by today's standards. Buffalo Bore and MagTech make decent self defense loads in this caliber. Guns for this cartridge generally give good accuracy, minimal recoil, low report, and chamber six rounds.

Thanks, Colby. I've been encouraging her to up-size for her carry weapon. Winters in Nashville where she's from make it likely that penetrating a bad guy's clothing won't happen. She does shoot Buffalo Bore, so that's a help. Thanks,

.32's are adored here
I recently sold a Charter Arms Undercover .32 S&W Long. I gave my grandson a S&W 31-2 snubbie, own two 3" barrel 31-1's and a 30-1. My daughter has a S&W 331 TI .32 H&R magnum. My son totes a Seecamp .32 a.c.p. as do I (in my pocket as I type) and I own a Walther PP 7.65.
Nothing wrong with a .32 in cool, skilled hands. With the proper ammunition that S&W 31-1 will serve any owner well. It is likely better built than current offerings. S&W Shields are on sale until the end of the month. A brand new Shield can be had for around $225.00. Shields are fine pistols, my daughter, daughter-in-law, and I each have a 9mm with thumb safety version.

I'm in 2.5% camp that really like the .32 cal S&W revolver. While I agree that in today's shooting world it is considered "anemic" there is doubt that anyone having been shot with one would agree. Should your sister decide to up-size I'm just a PayPal click away. LOL, Stay safe my friend. hardcase60

"The .32 is not for everyone, only about 98.5% of the members here have any use for such a thing."
100-98.5=1.5. You would be part of the 98.5%.

Proves I should never try to do simple math in my head or that I can no longer multitask (do math in my head and type at the same time). Thanks for correcting my mistake.... hardcase60

Keep in mind that the 31-1 cylinder is long enough to be reamed out for 32 H&R Magnum, and has been by many. That is a valid personal protection caliber.
