Default FRIEND'S 10-8

Thought I posted a msg. similar to this one yesterday. Came back 3 hrs. later to read responses, msg. was gone. Couldn't find it anywhere, so I'll try again:

Smith nickled 10-8, looks factory (no "waves" on side plates), 4" HB barrel, ser. # 8D027xx, incorrect Goodyear grips but no pitting underneath, 90% overall. No agency markings, probable commercial sale.

Anyone know DOB?
Nickle uncommon?
Approx. value as stated, no box nor docs.

I can tell you that nickel on old Model 10s is not particularly uncommon, not as far as I know, anyway. I don't think any old 4" Model 10 is worth much more than 400 dollars unless it is amazingly pristine or a snubby! ICBW.
