Well seems very high price....there is one locally
for sale NIB for 800 ...and another sold which was very nice and it sold for less than 500...i am not sure what prices are in your area....those grips are from a early model too...is this one a flat latch?
Need pics of both sides of gun too....looks like someone removed all the finish too
God Bless,John

It's a model 36 J frame 38spl. Also know as a "Chief's special"
.photo doesn't look nickel, instead it just looks like the bluing is worn. Maybe it's just the lighting. The cylinder may be newer or just didn't wear the same
If it is indeed worn bluing it's not worth $500. Around $300 -$350.
Here's mine. It's from the 70s.

Can't tell much from the pictures. Whatever it is, it looks like the finish of the frame is a bit challenged. I can't see the $500 price tag. I agree with others - in the $300-range, if ok mechanically and no serious trauma to the outside.

A 1962-'63 Chiefs Special. Diamond grips. Flat Latch. Not a frankengun.
I'm not seeing the finish problems except on the butt. I'd suggest giving it a hard look, and if its finish and mechanicals are okay, maybe $425-$450. I recently picked up this blue one that's about 10,000 numbers higher for $429. You be the judge.

Two tone
Hi all
My coworker seen it at a pawn shop said it looked like nickel.
I wasn't sure why it was two tone.
If it was round but and 300 bucks I would take a look myself.
Thanks for the help.

It looks like an inverted Pinto. I've seen them with the frame blued and cylinder nickle, but not the inverse. Might be worth doing a little research to see if they ever made them like that.

Looks like the cylinder was replaced to me. I don't "think" it's a factory pinto, since the barrel isn't blue, but ya never know!
$300 top. If it's mechanically sound, it would still make a good carry or shooter.
