Kinda Local Gun Shop 19-4 find but the magazines really made it worth while
Wife has been out of town with some friends for a week and the honey do list is complete. Had to get out for some me time. The LGS that are close have not had anything I am interested in lately so I decided to go a little farther from the house (1 hr each way). Looked around and did not see any pistols, revolvers, rifles or shotguns I wanted so I was digging through the magazine rack to see what he had. It had been a year or so since I had been in his shop.
Guy walked in the front door and asked the owner if he is buying today. He had a blue S&W box in his hand.
I stayed in the back and kept digging as I do not feel it is correct to get into someone's business. Owner bought the gun and took it into the back room to book it in.
As he walked past me he said it had been a buying day and asked me back in the office to look. The S&W was a 19-4 (1979) in the box with Pachmayers on it and the factory target stocks ( mint very blond set) in the box. Light turn line but no blue wear. He had also purchased a mint Colt officers model 38, 1939 Luger mint, Colt SAA 45 circa 1916, and a Webley 38 today. Those were already spoken for as another customer was in the store and made a deal for all 4 after they were bought. I popped off and asked what he was going to want for the 19-4. $540 out the door so I took it.
Not a screaming deal but OK.
Then I laid the magazines on the counter that I had dug out and for another $100 I took those home too. S&W 10mm, Llama XV 22, four metal base - metal follower Ruger Standard Model / MKI.
I may have to visit this shop more than once a year.

I think you got a good deal also, with the box and all. The -4 was the last of the P&R 19's. Now go out and have some more me time at the range. Enjoy.

I think so too!! Nice Model 19, and with the box. Nothing like being in the right place at the right time. Congratulations, Sir!! You did good.

Maybe not a screaming deal, but a lot better than just OK, at least in my neighborhood.

From what I've seen in a few shops lately, that might be a screamer. Last LGS I was in a couple of weeks ago had a 19-3 in what I would guess equal condition as yours but no box marked at $699 and I was told very quickly price was firm. With tax that would be $750. Guy told me he knew price was high but said he couldn't keep nice Smiths in the case no matter what he marked them.

And just think, those Pachs would probably bring 5 or 6 bucks if sold separately!
